Our Young Parents Pathway team from Living+ scooped the award for 'Most effective project in improving the lives of women or communities' at the 2017 Women in Housing Awards. The South Tyneside scheme strives to help parents aged 16 to 25 be the best they can for their children.

CIH Scotland Excellence Awards 2017

Our Developments team in Scotland picked up an award at the CIH Scotland Excellence Awards. Along with Lovell, the team were awarded the 'Excellence in Development for Affordable Housing' award for the transformation of a derelict site in Wester Hailes. The £19m Harvesters Way housing development has brought 183 much needed affordable homes to the City of Edinburgh.

The first phase of homes at the former shipyard are factory-built, modular homes.

TPAS Central Region Awards 2017

Derwent Living won the excellence in tenant engagement award for successfully delivering an effective in-house mediation service for its customers. 

Derwent Living's mediation team is made up of seven staff and eight resident mediators, who volunteer their own time to help create positive outcomes for neighbours who find themselves at odds with one another.

The judges acknowledged the Group's central placemaking approach, which focuses on providing vital local infrastructure and facilities alongside all new housing, in order to create attractive neighbourhoods and communities that ensure the success of both places and people in the long term.

Places for People was named Residential Company of the Year at the Estates Gazette Awards. 

The judges commended Places for People's placemaking approach, which was described as a blueprint for how housing providers could help solve the UK's housing crisis.

We were crowned winners of the Most Innovative Finance Model accolade at the Housing Innovation Awards. Boxed Energy, our project with partners, FCS Energy, was recognised as a means of financing upgrades to heating infrastructure within communal buildings - enhancing system performance, reliability and energy efficiency - without requiring any upfront capital outlay from landlords.

We received an award in the Best Financial Innovation: Retail Bonds category for our innovative funding methods that were previously untried in the housing industry.

They noted that Places for People are one of the few organisations across British industry to issue a successful retail bond, not once, but twice since May 2011.

Places for People has been awarded an Apple Award for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage, for a £16 million project aimed at improving green spaces in 75 communities.

Green Spaces for People will also be invited to have their winning paper published in the Green Book, an international reference point for best practice, so that others around the world can learn from our experience.
