Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ, Answers to your questions
Paying rent:

QuestionI have received a statement showing I am in arrears but I don't pay rent?

AnswerYour rent is covered by Housing Benefit which is paid in arrears (up to 4 weeks in arrears).  The account will nearly always show in arrears.  Please check the statement to see if a payment is due from HB.

QuestionI am in credit, can I have a refund? (From customers who pay their rent themselves monthly)

AnswerIf a customer pays rent monthly it should be paid 1 x calendar month in advance so ac will always be in credit - no refund possible.

Question I pay 4 weeks rent every month, why am I in arrears?

AnswerIf paying per calendar month the amount payable is NOT 4 weeks rent BUT weekly rent figure (x 52 weeks in yr).  This is then split over 12 (no of months in year).

Many of customers think that they can pay 4 weeks rent every calendar month.  In this case they actually end up only paying 48 weeks rent in year i.e. become 4 weeks in arrears

Question I paid at the Post Office yesterday.  Why isn't it showing on my account?

AnswerSwipe Card payments can take up to 4 working days to show on the rent account.  (This also applies to standing order payments)
