July is Care and Support Awareness Month
Back

Places for People is taking part in the
National Housing Federation’s Care and Support Awareness Month in
the North of England, to raise awareness of the services that are
provided in the region. 47 events are taking place at Places for
People schemes, ranging from coffee mornings and ‘knit and natter’
sessions to fashion shows and bingo nights.
Many of the schemes taking part provide
sheltered housing for older people, but the Group’s refuges for
victims of domestic abuse are also getting involved, organising a
night of entertainment.
Care and Support Awareness Month has been
organised to celebrate the excellent personalised support services
that are provided by housing groups and their partners around the
North of England. It is well recognised that high quality support
services can tackle social exclusion, enabling people to achieve
their potential and enjoy independent and fulfilled lives.
Places for People provides Care and Support
services to 7000 people around the country, working with older
people, teenage parents, people with mental health problems, women
escaping domestic violence, people with disabilities, refugees and
homeless people. Our philosophy is all about supporting
independence, increasing opportunities and looking at what makes a
difference for each person.
