Question:What makes Places for Children the best choice for my child?

Answer:Places for Children provides the very best in childcare and education that is both accessible and affordable. Our nurseries are brand new and purpose built and are filled with new toys, equipment and facilities along with highly trained, experienced and caring staff.

Our fees are fully inclusive of nappies, formula milk, breakfast, lunch, dinner and all snacks. Fresh water and drinks are always available throughout the day.

For babies we offer a weaning menu with fresh fruit and vegetables. We provide formula milk, all meals and snacks and nappies inclusive in the fees.

Question:What will my child learn and is there a curriculum?

Answer:With the very youngest of children we focus on four key development areas, communicating, confidence, emotional and physical wellbeing.

We provide experiences and support children to feel good about themselves, respect others and develop positive attitudes to learning.

We give our children the opportunity, encouragement and support in developing their communication skills.

We use stories, songs, games and imaginative play to help the children develop their mathematical understanding. Activities include counting, sorting, matching, finding patterns, making connections and working with numbers, shapes, space and measures.

The skills young children learn are essential for later work in many subjects such as science, history and geography. We help them to acquire these skills through a mixture of direct and practical activities, including trips and visits outside the nursery, providing a broad range of educational and fun experiences.

Co-ordination control, manipulation and movement are important skills. We aim to build children's confidence in these areas and help them to appreciate being active and healthy.

We provide a stimulating environment and encourage creativity, originality and expressiveness through activities such as art, music,dance, role play and imaginative play.

Question:Are nappies, formula and food included in the fees?

Question:Do you care for children with individual needs?

Answer:Their professional, experienced and qualified staff welcome all children and work hard to meet their individual needs.

The nurseries are specially designed for both children and adults with excellent facilities and secure outdoor play areas.

At whatever age a child joins us the learning experiences and care we give them are tailored to their particular needs.

We like to work together with parents/carers for their children's care and needs. We always keep parents/carers informed about their child's well being and development, we do this informally day to day and with regular written updates and open evenings.

We see meal times as a learning experience in themselves, giving each child the opportunity for social interaction and conversation with staff and other children.

Question:Are special dietary needs catered for?

Question:Will you provide assistance and advice on fees, government tax credit etc?

Answer:Yes. There is a computer station in the reception area of all our nurseries which parents and carers are welcome to use. There is access to government websites for information and our nursery managers can help and advise you on where you can get the latest information.

Question:What are your 'staff to child' ratios?

Answer:The Government has developed a set of National Standards to which all providers are required to achieve and these are inspected within an unagreed cycle by OfSTED. The requirements for staffing ratio's are

Bullet pink block 0-2 years old = 1 staff to 3 children

Bullet pink block 2-3 years old = 1 staff to 4 children

Bullet pink block 3-5 years old = 1 staff to 8 children

Question:How will you ensure the health and safety of my child?

Answer:The nurseries are specially designed for both children and adults with excellent facilities and secure outdoor play areas.

We encourage babies to learn through their senses, exploring the world around them in a range of activities, in a safe, secure environment.

We have a detailed Health & Safety policy and accidental reporting process which all staff adhere tool.
