Places for People is celebrating after being announced winners at the Planning Awards in London on Wednesday 6 June.

Our Twechar development in East Dunbartonshire scooped the top prize in the Award for Regeneration, with judges praising the development for securing the future of the village, enhancing its physical and environmental quality, as well as delivering economic and social impacts within the community.

Significant improvements

Since the start of the regeneration project, the village has seen significant improvements with the demolition of 200 unsuitable council houses replaced with a variety of quality, modern, energy efficient homes. Once complete, the Twechar regeneration will deliver over 300 mixed tenure homes at various locations across the village, attracting existing villagers and new families to the area.

On the night, we were also highly commended alongside Urban Splash in the Award for Partnership Working. The award recognises our joint venture which has seen us deliver more than 300 homes with more than 2000 in the pipeline. This includes:

  • Completing the first phase of 260 homes at Park Hill in Sheffield
  • Launching the major regeneration of Smith’s Dock in North Shields which will feature more than 800 homes, workspaces and community amenities
  • Securing planning permission for the regeneration and creation of more than 1000 homes at Port Loop in Birmingham
  • Creating a new phase of homes at Lakeshore in Bristol

These awards build on our recent success at the Evening Standard New Homes Awards where Millwood Designer Homes won ‘Best Large Development of the Year under 100 homes’ and ‘Best Family Home under 750k’. We have also this week been shortlisted for Residential Company of the Year at the Estates Gazette Awards.
