The new state-of-the-art Andover Leisure Centre opened its doors to the public last week. Places Leisure, part of the Places for People Group, was awarded a 30-year contract from Test Valley Borough Council to design, build, operate and maintain the leisure centre.
Boasting two new pools, a sauna, steam room, state-of-the-art gym, Clip’n Climb, and three-storey soft play area, the long-awaited facility is expected to attract thousands of visitors over the coming weeks with over 3,000 people visiting on the first day.
Head of community and leisure for Test Valley Borough Council, Dave Tasker, said: “After two years it is amazing to finally walk through the doors and see the finished facility. It looks fantastic and the new equipment and features are excellent. It is truly something for Andover to be proud of."
Following the demolition of Andover Leisure Centre’s old sports hall in August 2017, a new eight-court sports hall has been built on the first floor of the new centre. The hall will provide a multi-use sports space for a wide range of sport, including badminton, basketball, netball, trampolining, short tennis and table tennis.
Together we are breathing new life into the former dockyard.
