A topping out ceremony has been held to mark a significant milestone in the development of Brio Retirement Living’s first retirement rental scheme, located in Hackbridge.

Brio Retirement Living, part of Places for People, celebrated the major milestone at Brio Button House, which forms part of the larger New Mill Quarter development, on Wednesday 22 May along with its construction partner Barratt London and retained lettings agent Knight Frank.

The event was marked by Brio Retirement Living’s Director of Development and Sales Karl Hallows, who symbolically put the final waterproofing in place. Construction started in 2017 and the topping out marks the swift progress towards completion.

Tailored care and support

Button House will feature 80 one and two bedroom apartments over four floors. All apartments will be available for rental only and will feature lift access and private balconies. Brio has focused on creating a community and, as such, residents will be able to take advantage of all the facilities located in The Hub. These include concierge, a brasserie and bar, fitness suite, club lounge, guest suite, landscaped outdoor terraces, social spaces, 24-hour onsite Brio staff seven days a week as well as care and support for those who need it today or in the future. There will also be tailored care and support, housekeeping and dining packages available, providing the ultimate assisted living package, personalised to each individual.

Much needed choice

Karl Hallows, Director of Development and Sales of Brio Retirement Living said, "The topping out ceremony is a key moment for Brio Retirement Living as we continue to expand our services, provide much needed choice for our older people and brings together our desire to work in the community of Hackbridge.

"This is our first rental offering in responding to the increase in demand for renting and presents an attractive alternative to retirees considering their options in retirement.

Excellent service

Tim Weightman, Places for People’s Director of Assets said, “As a customer-focussed organisation we believe in offering choice, a range of tenure options and excellent service through all of our Group companies. Alongside Brio Retirement Living, we are able to provide the option and flexibility of renting a property which has been carefully designed with retirement living in mind. Reaching this important milestone at Hackbridge brings us one step closer to delivering much needed high-quality homes.”

Fantastic place to live

Lee Greenwood, Project Director at Barratt East London comments, “Here at Barratt London we are proud to be involved in such a landmark development, working alongside our partners to transform the million-square foot former Felnex trading estate. Brio’s retirement scheme is a vital part of the sustainable new community that we are working hard to create at New Mill Quarter. With our residents able to benefit from the facilities on offer in the brasserie, the upcoming opening of Brio Button House is the next step in making New Mill Quarter a fantastic place to live.”
