Design Your Home launched its custom home gallery in Basingstoke. The gallery marks the first of its kind in the UK and gives people the opportunity to browse options and design their own home.

Design Your Home, part of Places for People Group, are delivering the gallery in partnership with Homes England and celebrated the official opening with Basingstoke MP Maria Miller.

Creating a perfect home

Design Your Home is our innovative brand that aims to give people the opportunity to design their own home for the same price as, or less than, a standard new home.

Buyers are able to choose their own layout, including open plan living, additional rooms in the roof, extra bathrooms, and extensions.  They can also pick from a vast range of internal choices on kitchens, bathrooms, skirting, coving, doors, light/electrical fittings, door furniture, sustainability features, garden design and paint colours.

The cost of a ‘Design Your Home’ bespoke home is no more expensive than the cost of a home from a volume house builder and, due to some tax advantages, it can often be cheaper. ‘We also help our customers with their rental costs whilst their new home is being built.

As all of the custom choices have been pre-approved for planning and the foundations are pre-installed, we can deliver our homes within just six months.

Putting the buyer in control

Kim Slowe, CEO of Design Your Home, said: “People have been given far too little choice in how their new home is designed for far too long. We’re putting that right. Design Your Home puts the buyer in control of how their new home is configured, enabling them to buy a bespoke house at no extra cost. This change is way overdue.”

Our first major project at Squirrel Wood, Basingstoke involves the construction of 122 homes. The first phase has already sold out with half of all the buyers identifying as first-time homeowners. New schemes in Swindon and Dorchester will be released to the market with 500 plots a year expected to be launched within the next three years.
