The Group’s charity, Places Foundation, is supporting young people in Lancashire, aged 15 – 24 to overcome barriers to access work, education or training.
As a delivery partner for the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) Invest in Youth project, our dedicated key workers provide intensive support to participants to help them identify and develop skills and interests, and achieve milestones so that they are more ready for employment or education.
Our BBO Keyworkers, Lewis Todd and Rory Monaghan, are based across Lancashire, working with customers at the Living+ Millbank Wellbeing Centre and more recently with ‘The Place’ in Blackpool, providing more opportunity to offer extensive support to individuals facing social exclusion, homelessness and other barriers to work.
One participant, Maja was referred to the project by her social worker after struggling in college with substance misuse issues. Our dedicated key workers Lewis and Rory assisted Maja in CV building, identifying apprenticeship vacancies and applying for roles.
By developing a personal action plan that highlighted Maja’s interests, aspirations and barriers to work or training, Maja has successfully secured an apprenticeship in dental nursing in Preston, delivered by Training 2000, a training provider based in Lancashire.
With the support of the Invest in Youth project, Maja is really happy and excited to start her apprenticeship and begin her career. Maja feels more confident, motivated and really lucky to have received this support.
Places Foundation is an independent charity established by the Places for People Group. The Charity’s objective is ‘to improve the quality of life for people and communities particularly those who suffer disadvantage as a result of exclusion from the labour market and inadequate access to essential services’.
