As part of our Major Works Social Value initiative led by Places Impact, colleagues from our Property Maintenance Division (PMD) have delivered refurbishment works to a Manchester charity, celebrating its centenary.
Collyhurst and Moston Amateur Boxing Club has a 100-year tradition of providing a space for people to train, learn new skills, make friends and develop positive behaviours. As well as boxing training, the club delivers a broad youth work programme, informal education and arts projects.
Previously a recipient of the Group's Homechoice funding, the club has now benefited from an upgrade to their facilities providing women and girls with their own changing and showering facilities. The improvements delivered by PMD will help more young women to access the services provided by the club, meaning they can roll out female only training and youth provision. This type of activity has already had a huge impact in this part of North Manchester where we have many customers living in our homes.
Club Manager, Tommy Mcdonagh, commented that “The revamped changing rooms have never been more welcome as the club is engaging with more and more females and hopefully this will help to attract more to the club”.
