The Places Foundation, Cotman Housing and the Travis Perkins Legacy Fund have collaborated with Norwich City FC Community Sports Foundation to keep families active and healthy during lockdown.
The Virtual Canaries Soccer School project was a direct response to challenges faced by families due to Covid-19 lockdown. The on-line project provided resources for families with the aim of inspiring them to take part in physical activity in line with social distancing guidelines. Using the power of football and Norwich City Football Club, the Virtual Soccer School app was developed with features including Drills Route, Pass like Vranic, How to’s and Homework Tasks.
Thanks to a £1500 donation from Places Foundation over 900 participants took part, 2216 sessions and 52,535 interactions were delivered over the recent Half Term Break.
“Thank you for the online soccer school, Mia has had a great time trying different training things on offer, she tried to volley like Pukki this afternoon”.
“Oscar has really enjoyed all the challenges this week and said it was fun learning at home. Thank you to everyone involved with the Virtual Soccer School!”
“Archie has been loving this challenge from @TheDeanAshton for the Virtual Soccer School. We went to the local park to make use of the goals”.
