The Places Foundation Impact Fund is continuing to improve the lives of people in our neighbourhoods and communities. So far, the Fund has supported 17 local initiatives which aim to improve health and wellbeing, provide training and support for people to access work and promote financial and digital inclusion.
‘Preparing for My Future’ is a project delivered by Living Plus which offers group and one to one sessions to current and former residents at Salford Foyer for homeless young people aged 16-25.
Supported by the Impact Fund, the ‘I’m in Control’ sessions provided emotional awareness, employability and life skills to around 90 residents, helping to develop their confidence and self-esteem which can lead towards improved relationships, successful tenancies and future employment.
Through the sessions, one young resident who was facing eviction has started to learn how to manage her anger, and recognises how this behaviour has had a negative impact on her life. As a result, she is now taking positive steps to prepare for her future and has been able to keep her tenancy.
