Northamptonshire charity, Service 6 is set to benefit from Places Impact’s annual ‘Major Works Makeover’ as part of our approach to delivering social value in our neighbourhoods.

Nominated by colleagues from Places for People Homes, Service 6 supports socially and financially excluded families and young people facing a range of challenges, helping to reduce anti-social behaviour, keep young people safe and improve educational attainment.

The makeover will see the charity’s community centre undergo a complete renovation, thanks to 40 operatives from PMD and our new Major Works contractors Breyer, J Thomlinson and Bell Group.

Works are set to include the installation of a brand new kitchen and appliances, new wheelchair accessible bathrooms, improved lighting, new flooring, and reconfiguration of the interior to create new meeting rooms. The building will also be fully redecorated.

As a long standing partner of Places for People, many of our customers and their children benefit from the services the charity provides. Once the makeover is complete, the charity will be able to reach more people, delivering a city-wide programme of activities for young people.

The Major Works Makeover is now in its fifth year and has helped to make a difference to our customers and communities around the country. Previous projects have included refurbishments of facilities at the Living+ schemes Windmill Lane in Sheffield and Mill Bank in Preston which provide accommodation for young homeless families, and most recently the Ivy Street Community Centre in Blackburn.
