Surrey Heath’s Deputy Mayor and Places Leisure’s Contract Manager Duncan Mackay cut a ribbon this month to mark the brand new centre’s opening day.
The new multi-million pound state-of-the-art centre has been built on the site of the old Arena Leisure Centre and brings an impressive, modern leisure facility to Surrey Heath and the local area.
The Deputy Mayor of Surrey Heath, Cllr Helen Whitcroft was joined at the ceremony with Surrey Heath Borough Council’s Leader, Cllr Alan McClafferty, Surrey Heath Borough Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Colin Dougan, alongside operator Places Leisure and Pellikaan Construction.
The Group, together with construction partner Pellikaan Construction, successfully built the new centre throughout the pandemic despite the enormous challenges faced by the construction industry over the last 12 months.
Places Leisure were awarded the 25-year Design, Build, Operate and Maintain Contract for the new Camberley leisure centre, along with Pellikaan Construction and architects Roberts Limbrick.
The centre features a cutting edge fitness suite – equipped with the latest workout machines and apparatus, 25 metre 6-lane pool, learner pool with adjustable floor, splash zone (interactive water confidence area), eight court sports hall, group exercise studios, health suite, temperature controlled yoga studio, immersive cycling studio, a vibrant Clip 'n Climb climbing arena and a Costa Coffee Café. A fun purpose-built adventure play area is also available for families to enjoy.
An official launch event will take place in the autumn.
