We’re delighted to announce that Matt Cross is joining Places for People in early October as our new Chief Information Officer.
Matt will head up our technology, digital, data strategy and analytics development, and in doing so, work with the team to deliver the technology vision and strategic agenda that will push us forward.
Matt joins from Tesco Bank where, for the last eight years, he’s been Analytics Director, leading them on a significant transformation to become a customer-led business through a revolutionary tech, data and analytics strategy. Matt will bring this experience into our organisation and, leading our brilliant colleagues in Technology, will work to understand the business, strategy, vision and challenges to shape the Group technology, data and digital strategy, roadmap and service provision.
Matt has a Master’s degree in Applied Physics and a PhD in Mathematical Modelling and has worked in senior and significant roles in blue-chip financial services organisations all his career. He’ll join the Places for People Executive team and will report to Greg Reed, our Group CEO.
Commenting on Matt’s appointment, Greg said: “We exist because of our customers and everything we do – including our unrelenting drive for continuous improvement – should be focused on delivering the right customer outcomes. At the core of delivering these outcomes is our digital, data, and technology strategy and execution.
“When we get it right in tech terms then so much is made better and it becomes easier.”
Matt added: “I’m very excited to be joining the Places for People team. The opportunity to work in an organisation that has such an important social purpose at its core is extremely inspiring.
Matt lives in Sunderland after his wife convinced him that her hometown was a better fit than California. His home life is busy having 10 year old triplet daughters and a puppy. Matt’s escape is surfing and can be found doing his version of cold water therapy in the North Sea most weekend mornings.
