Tim Weightman joined Places for People in 1997 as a Development Manager in the North East and has since built extensive experience across development, repairs, strategic asset management and investment property.
As Chief Investment Officer, Tim oversees the strategic management of the Group’s portfolio of social homes, as well as nearly £1bn of investment properties. He is responsible for ensuring Places for People has a detailed understanding of its homes and Communities, helping us make informed long-term decisions about where we build, where and how we invest, and where recycling homes can support our future growth.
Tim also leads the Group’s response to some of the most significant challenges facing the housing sector, including fire and building safety, the transition to net zero and the long-term impacts of climate change. Across his role, he is focused on delivering excellent experiences for Customers while balancing social impact, financial performance and the long-term sustainability of our homes.
In 2026, Tim was appointed as an Executive Director on the Places for People Group Board, recognising the growing importance of our asset strategy and the expertise he brings to decisions that shape the future of the Social Enterprise. As an Executive Director, Tim shares responsibility for the overall stewardship and performance of Places for People, alongside his leadership of investment and asset strategy.
Tim holds a degree in Building Surveying and an MBA from Durham University. He is also a Non-Executive Director at Rochdale Boroughwide Housing Limited, where he chairs the Customer Services Committee.
