Responding to the Chancellor’s 2026 Autumn Budget, Places for People’s Group CEO Greg Reed said:

"Treasury faces ongoing constraints but has backed housing again today with a positive Budget that gives providers, Mayors and councils more tools to work together and deliver. At PfP, we'll keep maximising the reforms, investment and opportunities created since 2024 by forging partnerships that create change.

"More investment into new homes and rough sleeping, low-cost finance, greater local delivery powers and additional routes into home ownership are all positive moves. Together, they will increase housing delivery, unlock regional growth and give regions greater capacity to meet housing need. Housing providers like PfP are uniquely placed to help make that happen, through housebuilding, wraparound support and innovative solutions that help Communities thrive.

"There is much to like, but the real work starts now. The Social and Affordable Homes Programme is a generational opportunity, and bringing more funding into its early years would help accelerate delivery. Housing providers already have the land, pipeline and capacity to build, meaning more homes can be delivered sooner. As our 2024 campaign said, it's Time to Build.

"These announcements build on the progress already made on housing supply, economic growth and homelessness prevention. We are already working with Mayors, Combined Authorities and councils to make funding go further and combine our strengths. These measures will strengthen those partnerships while reinforcing the unique role housing providers play in Communities, from tackling homelessness with wraparound support and helping people through cost-of-living challenges to building homes, creating opportunities and providing skills.

"The conditions for success remain in place. As a unique national provider rooted in our regions, our boroughs, and our Communities, PfP can help turn investment, reform and ambition into more homes, greater opportunity and lasting growth."
