Places for People, the UK’s leading social enterprise and Yoo Capital, the real estate investment firm known for transformational mixed-use developments, are pleased to announce their partnership on the proposed delivery of hundreds of new homes at Camden Film Quarter, a new film-led development in Kentish Town.

The vision for the entire scheme, announced earlier this year, aims to be an innovative and sustainable mixed-use campus which will see 50% of the total residential offering across the land owned by Yoo Capital dedicated to high-quality, affordable homes and create the infrastructure needed to support the new community.

With thriving Communities at the heart of our mission, the partnership with Yoo Capital - whose vision to put communities, both creative and local, at the centre of its world-class ambitions for the Camden Film Quarter - will bring a first of its kind creative neighbourhood to life, enriching the surrounding area and delivering on the important local regeneration strategy of Kentish Town.

Alongside providing homes for those in the local Camden area, our residential development will also draw in new residents from the creative community and surrounding areas, allowing them to benefit from the creativity and vast offering of the destination.

With over 60 years of experience delivering homes, Places for People will ensure residents are the cornerstone of the new quarter. Having redeveloped Europe’s largest listed building at Park Hill in Sheffield and created the bustling sustainable community on the former Olympic Park in EastWick +Sweetwater, in partnership with Yoo Capital both parties will deliver on the vision to create and support a thriving community at Camden Film Quarter.

Sammie Steele, Managing Director, Placemaking and Regeneration, Places for People said:

“We love working in partnerships that strive to keep the history of a place alive and create communities that people are proud to call their home. We see this with our existing communities in Camden and at EastWick + Sweetwater on the Olympic Park. We are excited to work in partnership with the brilliant Yoo Capital on Camden Film Quarter and bring the vision forward for what is set to be a unique, creative and animated community. Building new homes that create vibrant, thriving communities is at our core. We are committed to delivering much more needed affordable housing for Londoners as well as across the UK.”

Lloyd Lee, Managing Partner, Yoo Capital, said:

Our partnership with Places for People is a clear demonstration of our dedication to the needs of the community, enabling us to bring forward 50% affordable housing across the land we own in the Camden Film Quarter campus.

We are very proud to be partnering with Places for People and their extraordinarily talented team and we are excited to welcome their ideas to the Camden Film Quarter masterplan vision as we engage with local residents and stakeholders.”

Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for New Homes, Jobs and Community Investment said:

"We know that there is a chronic shortage of suitable, affordable family homes in Camden and across London.

"This agreement guarantees that 50% of the new homes built on the land Yoo Capital have bought will be genuinely affordable, fit for purpose and will ensure that we can develop a thriving neighbourhood for local people that provides good jobs and opportunities for our existing communities as well as being a beacon for creativity.

"We will be working with residents on realising a shared community vision and getting residents' thoughts at every stage. We see this development as a way to help combat many of the issues residents are facing in Camden."

Camden Film Quarter is currently under a subject to planning basis with a masterplan vision expected for delivery in 2024.
