Places for People responds to new Planning and Infrastructure Bill

On Thursday 18 December Government announced that its Planning and Infrastructure Bill became law. Responding to the Bill’s Royal Assent, Places for People’s Group CEO Greg Reed said:

"After a year of positive reform and commitment to significant housing investment, we’re delighted to see the Planning and Infrastructure Bill receive Royal Assent. This will give the certainty needed on a range of policy areas to unlock more quality new homes at scale with supporting infrastructure.
 
"We especially support the changes in the rules on legal challenges to large infrastructure and, given the delays we have faced in delivering thousands of new homes in Gilston, Herts, we hope to see this extended to large scale housing developments in future.
 
"However, legislation is only half the battle. We must also address the significant skills gap in local planning offices. As a committed and trusted partner, we look forward to working with Government to implement these reforms and meet our country's urgent housing needs."
