Places for People launch more warm hubs as cold weather bites

Warm Space 1

With temperatures set to drop, Places for People (PfP), the UK’s leading social enterprise, is ramping up its support for customers and communities as part of its Winter Ready Campaign.

In addition to the 39 warm hub and food bank charities granted almost £200,000 in funding by PfP this year, a number of Places Leisure centres, part of the PfP group, are also offering warm spaces this winter.

The initiative provides safe, heated spaces for people to gather and stay warm as well as and access wider wellbeing support. As the cold snap hits the UK, and the challenges faced by many households already impacted by the cost-of-living crisis intensifies, PfP continues to work with local partners to ensure help is available where it’s needed most.

Marcus Hulme, Director of Places Impact at PfP, said: “Winter can be a difficult time for many, with cold homes, rising energy costs, and increased risks of damp and mould. Our Winter Ready campaign is about more than awareness - it’s about action. We listen to our customers and respond to what they need and our warm hubs are a practical way to offer immediate relief while connecting people to longer-term support. Whether it’s a warm space, energy advice, or help with bills, we’re here to support our communities through the toughest months of the year.”

The warm hubs and food banks are part of a broader package of winter support offered through PfP’s Winter Ready Campaign, which includes:

  • Advice on managing condensation and mould
  • Energy-saving tips and myth-busting
  • Guidance on defrosting frozen pipes and staying safe in cold conditions
  • Access to emergency food and fuel vouchers for those in crisis

PfP manages over 260,000 properties across the UK and operates more than 100 health and wellbeing facilities, welcoming 2.5 million visits each month. Providing warm spaces demonstrates its unique position to be able to bring together multiple parts of the group to help and support customers.

More information about the Winter Ready campaign and how to access support, can be found in our Winter Toolkit.
